FAMILY CAREGiving with a difference

COMPASSIONATE, INFORMED CARE THROUGH THE LIFESPAN

HOW will the family training program help you?

Today more than ever before, families are being called to care for ill or aging loved ones in the home setting. While caring for a loved one is an honor it can also be more difficult than we ever imagined it could be.

Illness and age are predictable and once we know and understand this, it becomes far easier to help our loved ones navigate the terrain they are traveling upon. The M.A.P.S. program teaches family members how to meet their loved one’s where they are at, rather than trying to make their loved one’s journey fit into someone else’s plan. Our program is based first and foremost on Informed Care, therefore , at the heart of this training, is a document called the M.A.P.S. Itinerary. This template style booklet is filled out with their loved one’s input. When complete, it is essentially their loved one’s  self created map of how they would like their journey forward to look.

Once the map is in place, moving forward together is a much easier endeavor.

All training modules are built upon the M.A.P.S. Navigation philosophy –  the proprietary caregiver education system created by our founder Dr. Annette Childs.

WHAT DOES M.A.P.S. STAND FOR?

The M.A.P.S. Navigation system of care is based on the premise that comfort based care techniques paired with practical problem solving are the most powerful tools to use when seeking to provide effective compassionate care.

Our Caregivers are trained to:

M.     Manage Symptoms

A.      Alleviate Suffering

P.      Provide Advocacy

S.       Support Autonomy

“When Annette introduced our family to the M.A.P.S program of care, it made a huge difference for our whole family and defined a new purpose for helping our mother’s at home care. My mom was able to relax knowing she was able to stay at home and we felt like we knew how to care for her at home. As a Physician Assistant, I learned a lot from the M.A.P.S. care philosophy that my medical training never covered. I would highly recommend these services to any family, friends, or patients in need of care.”
